Major Gift!

In April of 2021, the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre accepted a major gift for their permanent collection. The 525 original paintings and prints that comprise Alan Weinstein’s donation, were created in the decades between 1970 and 2016. The works reveal the metamorphosis of thematic fixations and the restless explorations of media—a life of visual discovery. Currently, the largest piece, a 6 x 12 foot acrylic painting on canvas, Interior, is now on permanent display in the Dundas Room. Online exhibitions are projected for every second year from 2024-2030. Each exhibition will focus on one decade, starting with the 1970’s in 2024. An online education program will complement each digital exhibit. An actual exhibition in the museum, a return of Alan Weinstein The Ontario Studio: Five Decades Retrospective, is planned for the future.
